awadu bhule ko ghar lawai

Kabir

awadu bhule ko ghar lawai

Kabir

avadū bhūle ko ghar lāvai

so jan ham ko bhāvai

ghar meñ jog bhog ghar meñ ghar taj ban nahiñ jāvai

ghar meñ jukt-mukt ghar meñ jo gurū alakh lakhāvai

sahj sunn meñ rahai samānā sahj samādhi lagāvai

unmani rahi barahmā ko chīnahai param tatv ko dhyāvai

surat-nirat soñ melā kar ke anhad naad bajāvai

ghar meñ basat bastu bhī ghar hai ghar bastu bilavai

kahaiñ 'kabīr' suno ho sādhu jyoñ-kā-tyoñ Thahrāvai

He is dear to me indeed who can call back the wanderer to his home. In the home is the true union; in the home is enjoyment of life: why should I forsake my home and wander in the forest?

If Brahma helps me to realize truth, verily I will find both bondage and deliverance in home.

He is dear to me indeed who has power to dive deep into Brahma; whose mind loses itself with ease in His contemplation. He is dear to me who knows Brahma, and can dwell on His supreme truth in meditation; and who can play the melody of the Infinite by uniting love and renunciation in life.

Kabir says: “The home is the abiding place; in the home is reality; the home helps to attain Him Who is real. So stay where you are, and all things shall come to you in time.”

awadu bhule ko ghar lawai

so jan hum ko bhawai

ghar mein jog bhog ghar hi mein ghar taj ban nahin jawai

ghar mein jukt-mukt ghar hi mein jo guru alakh lakhawai

sahj sunn mein rahai samana sahj samadhi lagawai

unmani rahi barahma ko chinahai param tatw ko dhyawai

surat-nirat son mela kar ke anhad nad bajawai

ghar mein basat bastu bhi ghar hai ghar hi bastu bilawai

kahain 'kabir' suno ho sadhu jyon-ka-tyon Thahrawai
