yak jur'a mī az mamlikat-e-jam ḳhush-tar
bū-e-qadh az ġhizā-e-mariyam ḳhush-tar
aah sahre za siina ḳhumāre
az nāka-e-bū-sa’īd-o-addham ḳhush-tar
One draught of wine is better than the Empire of Jamshed, the fragrance of wine cup is more pleasing than the flavour of Mariam's victuals; the painful sigh at dawn of the inebriates is better than the lamentations of the saints, Abu Sayeed and Adam.
